Threat Check

The Threat Check tool enables you to scan suspicious files using multiple anti-virus engines and Retarus’ advanced sandboxing technology. This ensures a robust and thorough analysis of potential threats.

Key Features

  • Multi-Engine scanning
Files are analyzed using several anti-virus software engines for enhanced detection accuracy.

  • Sandboxing
Suspicious files are executed in a secure, isolated environment to identify malicious behavior.

  • Convenient Upload
You can upload files directly to the platform for scanning, with a maximum file size limit of 10 MB per file.

  • Secure processing
Uploaded files are transmitted securely, stored encrypted, and deleted automatically after the scan is complete.

  • Privacy
Retarus ensures secure handling of your submissions but is not responsible for the content of the uploaded files.

Recommendations for uploads

Upload unzipped files rather than container formats (e.g., archives or complete emails). While malware detection works for container files, the process may take longer due to the need for additional extraction and analysis steps.

Scanning a new file

  1. Click Security Center in the left navigation pane.

  2. In the Treat Check section, click Select.

  3. On the Upload new file screen, click Choose file and navigate to the file you want to check.

  4. Wait for the scanning process to complete.
→ Results are displayed once the scan finishes.

  1. Click Security Center in the left navigation pane.

  2. In the Treat Check section, click Select.

  3. On the Upload new file screen, navigate to the Scan History tab.

  4. Review the history of previously scanned files, including results and timestamps.

Password generator

The Password Generator, available in the Security Center, is a free service from Retarus that allows you to create secure, randomly generated passwords tailored to your specific needs. This tool ensures you can easily generate strong passwords to enhance your digital security.

Key features

  • Customizable length
Use the interactive slider to specify the desired password length, from short to highly complex passwords (e.g., 27 characters as shown in the example).

  • Flexible complexity options
Choose from a variety of character types to include in your password by toggling the following options:

    • a-z: Lowercase letters

    • A-Z: Uppercase letters

    • 0-9: Numbers

    • !->?: Special characters (e.g., punctuation marks)

    • Spaces: Include spaces for additional complexity

  • Data privacy
The password is generated directly in your client and is not stored or transmitted by Retarus. This ensures that the password remains secure and private.

Generating a secure password

  1. Click Security Center in the left navigation pane.

  2. In the Password Generator section, click Select.

  3. Use the slider to set the desired password length.

  4. Confirm the pre-selected character groups or add more options by clicking on the desired group icons:

    • By default, two character groups are pre-selected to ensure strong password generation.

    • You cannot deactivate a group if it would leave fewer than two groups selected.

    • You can add additional character groups by clicking the respective group icon (e.g., >0-9).

    • Active groups are visually highlighted.

  5. View the generated password in the Your Password field.

  6. Click the Refresh icon next to the password field to generate a new password if needed.

  7. Use the Copy Password button to copy the generated password and paste it where required.
