EDI Optimization Assessment Package

Objective

The EDI Optimization Assessment Package provides existing EDI customers with a structured review of their current Retarus EDI connections and identifies optimization potential that has accumulated over time.

Many long-standing EDI customers have connections that were configured years ago and have not been revisited since — while their business, partner landscape, and available Retarus capabilities have moved on. This package closes that gap: it establishes a clear, factual picture of what is running today and translates it into concrete, prioritized improvement opportunities.

The service is designed to:

  • analyze the customer's existing EDI connections and configuration with Retarus

  • assess current usage against available capabilities and current best practice

  • identify optimization potential across connectivity, message handling, and operational setup

  • present findings and jointly discuss improvement priorities with the customer

  • deliver a documented potential report as the basis for follow-on action

The objective is to give long-standing EDI customers a current, accurate view of their setup and a clear, prioritized path to modernization — without requiring a full landscape discovery.

Typical Customer Scenarios

The service is particularly suitable for customers with:

  • an EDI setup with Retarus that has been running unchanged for an extended period

  • no structured review of their EDI connections since initial setup

  • uncertainty about whether their current configuration still reflects best practice or available capabilities

  • organizational or personnel changes since the original setup, with limited institutional knowledge of the current configuration

  • a general sense that "things work" but no clear view of what could work better

Scope of Services

Existing Connection Analysis
Internal analysis of the customer's current EDI connections and configuration with Retarus, including:

  • inventory of active connections, communication channels, and message types in use

  • review of current configuration against Retarus best practice

  • identification of unused, outdated, or suboptimal setup elements

  • comparison against currently available Retarus EDI capabilities

Joint Review Session
A structured session to present findings and align on next steps, including:

  • walkthrough of the current-state findings

  • discussion of identified optimization opportunities

  • joint prioritization of potential improvements based on customer input and business relevance

Potential Report
Consolidation of findings and discussion outcomes into a documented report with prioritized recommendations.

Deliverables

The service provides:

  • session presentation (PDF)

  • EDI Optimization Potential Report (PDF) — current-state findings, identified optimization opportunities, and prioritized recommendations

Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for providing:

  • a technical or EDI-responsible contact for the session

  • confirmation of relevant business context (e.g., planned changes, current pain points) where available

  • participation in the joint review session

Assumptions & Limitations

The package provides analysis and recommendations only. The following are out of scope:

  • implementation of any identified optimization measures

  • a full landscape discovery covering systems, standards, and communication channels in the depth of the EDI Discovery & Integration Workshop

  • partner-specific mapping or message transformation work

  • changes to the production environment

Outcome

After completion, the customer receives:

  • a factual, up-to-date view of their existing Retarus EDI connections

  • a clear picture of optimization potential relative to current capabilities and best practice

  • a prioritized, documented basis for deciding on next steps
