DirSync Client for Windows

Email Security Customers Using Azure Active Directory

The DirSync Client for Windows supports local Active Directories (and LDAP-compliant systems). If you are using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), you can use the Azure Active Directory Synchronization instead.

The DirSync Client for Windows streamlines the synchronization of directory data with Retarus, making it easier to manage solutions such as Email Security, Fax-to-Email, Email-to-Fax, and Email-to-SMS. It allows customers to automate the upload of user information, such as email addresses and fax numbers, from their Active Directory to the Retarus infrastructure.

The DirSync Client for Windows offers native support for Microsoft Active Directory (AD) while also supporting standard LDAP communication. This ensures seamless interoperability with other LDAP-compliant systems.

The client queries the specified LDAP directory at user-defined intervals, applying preconfigured LDAP filters to retrieve only the necessary data for Retarus solutions. Depending on the Retarus solution in use, the data is converted into the required file format and transmitted to Retarus via HTTPS. Additionally, these files can be saved locally for review.

By default, the Active Directory information sent to Retarus is limited to the attributes necessary for the specific solution. The AD fields can be selected during the configuration. The following types of information are typically exported from the directory:

Additional directory information may be required when using personalization features of Retarus solutions, such as Signature/Disclaimer. Data like organizational units (OU) or group memberships can map users to specific service profiles.

The DirSync Client for Windows service is designed to support multiple Retarus solutions simultaneously. For instance, it can manage users for both Email Security and Email-to-Fax at the same time. This eliminates the need for multiple installations or separate configurations to manage different solutions.
