Configuring fax transmissions

Extended settings via the subject line

You can use direct commands in the subject line to set transmission parameters independent of your EAS portal configuration. Subject line settings take precedence over user, customer, or profile configurations stored with Retarus.

The following table explains the available subject line commands.

Additional information

Priority:

  • [PRIO:NORMAL]: Normal priority.

  • [PRIO:URGENT]: High priority
    (Express transmission).

You can also control fax priority through your email client's priority setting.

Blacklist comparison:

  • [BL:ON]: Enable blocklist comparison.

  • [BL:OFF]: Disable blocklist comparison.

Use this option to activate the BITKOM Robinson Blocklist.

This blocklist applies only to German phone numbers.

Attach TIFF file to the report:

  • [RECEIVE:ON]: Attach TIFF file to the report.

  • [RECEIPT:OFF]: Do not attach TIFF file to the report.

Send attachments only (not the Mail-Body):

  • ~~~: Send only attachments.

  • $$$: Send only attachments.

  • [ATTONLY:ON]: Send only attachments.
[ATTONLY:OFF]: Send both email body and attachments.

Cover page:

  • [CP:cover-page.rtf]: Place the cover page in front of the fax.

  • [CP:] Suppress the cover page entirely.

Enter the name of the cover page you stored in the EAS portal. The cover-page.rtf filename serves as a generic placeholder example.

Billing code:

  • [BC:xxx]: Specify a billing code for invoices.

Identifier:

  • [CSID:xxx]: Specify an alternative CSID.

You can enter up to 20 characters (numbers preferred). The system cannot guarantee that the recipient will see the CSID you specify here.

Transmission time:

  • [DT:yyy-MM-dd-HH.mm.ssZ]: Transmission time with time zone, for example:
    [DT:2014-10-02-08.10.00-0400].

If you specify a time in the past, the system sends the fax immediately.

Additional distribution lists:

  • [DL:xxx.txt]: Exact name of an attached distribution list file.

You can use multiple distribution lists. This option only works when you address the fax to list@rfax.net or list@us.rfax.net. Addressing is case-sensitive.

Status report to a specific email address:

  • [REPLYTO: Valid email address]: Specify the email address that receives the report. Without this setting, the system sends the report to the sender's email address.
You can also add Reply-To: to the email's MIME header, but the subject line setting takes precedence.

This option overrides the profile/user configuration in the EAS portal. If you also specify [ERRORONLY:ON], the system sends the report to the specified recipient only when an error occurs.

Copy of status report to a specific email address:

  • [REPLYCC: Valid email address]: Send a copy of the delivery report to an additional recipient. The system sends this copy when it forwards the delivery report to the sender.

This option overrides your EAS portal configuration.

Status report only in case of error:

  • [ERRONLY:ON]: Receive transmission status only when an error occurs.

You can combine this option with [RECEIVE:ON].

Resolution

  • [RES:HIGH]: Send the fax in high resolution.

  • [RES:LOW]: Send the fax in low resolution.

Paper format

  • [PF:A4]: Select A4 format for the fax.

  • [PF:LETTER]: Select Letter format for the fax.

Recipient time zone

  • [RTZ:Recipient’s time zone]: Specify the time zone where your fax recipient is located.

Additional transmission control settings

You can request a delivery notification when you send a fax by activating the Delivery notification option in your email client (as you would for standard emails).

Retarus sends you a delivery notification confirming receipt of your transmission. The report includes your sent document as a TIFF attachment, allowing you to verify how it was delivered to the recipient.
